Update: Kamal is getting ready for a new year at NWC where he will teach a core course on the Nature and Character of War; a core course entitles "the Global Context" with focus on governance, democracy, and the rule of law from the perspective of non-U.S. states; and an elective course entitled appropriately, Middle East for the Strategists. He will serve again on the Research Fellows Committees enabling bright and creative NWC students to develop extensive research and writing projects, and is proposing to lead a group of 10 NWC students to Saudi Arabia and Turkey next spring as part of their Field Study training and development with focus on cultural, economic, political, social, and military dynamics. The goal of the trip will be to better understand the narrative of the other and to be part of a “journey of learning and discovery”.
He continues to frequently brief on the Middle East, N. Africa, and Islamic Studies including Iraq and Afghanistan insurgency and terrorism, to U.S. military and civilian officers. Kamal has been selected two years in a row to participate in the U.S. Director of National Intelligence's Summer Hard Problem (2007 and 2008), a program designed to tackle complex US national security and intelligence problems.
